RCS Infrared Burner Upgrade For 30 And 42 Inch RCS Gas Grills - IR30

I have 4 of these that i retrofitted a while back. they work well. However the protective chicken wire grate that protects them are now brittle and crumbling apart after about 2 - 3years of regular use. Be advised there is no replacement for this that can be ordered. you have to buy the whole burner again. mine still work. and the price has went up. i paid approx $140 each. the other thing is there are cold spots in between them about 3 inches. so you have to put your food right over it. since i have 4 its not that much of a problem for me. there is only a 1 year warranty on it so i am out of luck. since i do mostly steaks the cold spots are not that much of a problem. but when you cook food that has sauce or glaze you keep basting with and food that falls onto the burner the grate is there to help keep that stuff off of it. i would buy a tec grill in the future. i gave two stars to get this noticed and have emailed rcs directly BBQGUYS Chris was very helpful but RCS seems to be aware of the problem and i recommended that they start making the grate to be sold directly. not sure if they will but i doubt it. so now i am just gonna use them as is and see how long they go for. but at the price of them times 4. i would like to have been able to get replacement grates to extend the life of the IR burners. i am also researching on how to make my own cover protectors.
