Simply insert the probe into the meat, run the wire out of the barbecue or oven, and attach the probe to the base unit. A clip on receiver is attached to the thermometer with an alert signal that works up to 120 feet away. Now you can truly grill and chill. Devices use (2) AAA batteries each.

AWESOME PRODUCT!
I've only used this thing once so far, but I love it already! I was grilling a chicken and it paged me when it reached the proper temp. I was drinking a beer and watching TV when it paged me. I had totally forgot that I had to check on the chicken that I was grilling. It didn't matter though. It came out great!
This product is easy to set up, easy to use, and the thermometers are easy to clean. It is a must have if you're grilling chickens, pork, ham, or anything like that.
